Why is it on the ACU Army uniform, the patch worn on the left arm is different from the pin on the beret?

The reason I ask is because my boyfriend is in the army and I am trying to understand all the Logistics of the whole affair. It is in ADA at Fort Bliss. Thank you very much for your help! Any other details would be great helpful. Thank you guys!

Okay, we'll use Fort Bliss as an example. I'm going to guess that your friend is in 11th ADA Brigade and Battalion 3-43 ADA. He would wear the ADA 11th Brigade shoulder of his shoulder left. It would be the 43rd ADA Regiment crest on his beret and Class AS. (3-43 ADA is being held for the 3rd Battalion, 43rd ADA Regiment). 1-43, 2-43 and 3-43 would all wear the same crest whatever squad they are assigned. Is that logical?
